Aireon will implement a space ADS-B system in COCESNA member countries
February 20, 2020 – A delegation from the Central American Air Navigation Services Corporation (COCESNA) visited the Aireon headquarters, located in the city of Tysons Corner (Virginia, United States), to discuss the implementation of the global surveillance system for the Aireon real-time air traffic (space ADS-B) in all COCESNA member countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
Juan Carlos Trabanino, COCESNA Executive President, Carlos Velásquez, COCESNA Board Member for Guatemala, Gerardo Berganza, Guatemala Civil Aviation at COCESNA, Gabriel Quiros, ACNA Director (ANS) COCESNA, along with Don Thoma, Aireon CEO, Cyriel Kronenburg, Vice President of Aireon Aviation Services, Keith Fenton, Aireon Implementation Manager, Christopher Holverson, Aireon Implementation Engineer, and Ana Persiani, Regional Director at Aireon LATAM and Vincent Capezzuto, CTO de Aireon, participated in the meeting.
The COCESNA region, which encompasses the entire Central American region of flight information (FIR), covers more than 2.6 million square kilometers of land airspace and extensive ocean areas in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Its central location in the Americas positions COCESNA as the main provider of air traffic control at the crossroads of the Caribbean, North, South and Central America.
